Analysis for OLAP is not working well with OLAP Connections with language different of EN

Hi experts!

I have a problem very boring. I work with Analysis for OLAP over BW. My master data is in ES, so, I need to work with OLAP Connections with language ES saved. The problem is when I create a AOLAP document, de BEx used is not saved with the document. After to save, when I open the same document again, the BEx is asked.

For explain detailed, this is the steps of the problem:

Trying with EN

1) Create an OLAP Connection with BW and language Englis (United States), with the option Save language? checked:

CapturarA.PNG

2) By BI Launch Pad, create an new AOLAP document with the OLAP Connection TEST BW EN. For this example, I used the BEx query ZCCAL_O1 TENDENCIA VACACIONES, this query has a variable for country, is necessary has a variable. Save this document with name TEST EN:

CapturarB.PNG

3) Close the document TEST EN. Open again this document and the prompt window appears correctly. Select the country and click in OK.

CapturarC.PNG

This is the way expected, this is the working expected. But when I want to use a different language then EN...

Trying with ES (the problem)

1) Create an OLAP Connection with BW and language Spanish (Spain), with the option Save language? checked:

Capturar1.PNG

2) By BI Launch Pad, create an new AOLAP document with the OLAP Connection TEST BW ES. For this example, I used the BEx query ZCCAL_O1 TENDENCIA VACACIONES, this query has a variable for country, is necessary has a variable. Save this document with name TEST ES:

Capturar2.PNG

3) Close the document TEST ES. Open again this document and the problem appears: before the prompt window, other windows appears (Cube Browser) asking the source.

Capturar3.PNG

THIS IS THE PROBLEM!

- I've selected the source (BEx query ZCCAL_O1 TENDENCIA VACACIONES) when I created this document. Why this windows appears asking the source?

- Why this message "This component is not connected to the data source"?

- If I don't select a BEx query, nothing occurs, and I lost my document content.

- Is possible to select the BEx query ZCCAL_O1 TENDENCIA VACACIONES again, but is possible to select a total different BEx query.

In some months ago I created a discussion about this problem, but this problem wasn't so clear for me yet.

Analysis for OLAP is not saving with the BEx query

My environment is SAP BO 4.1 SP5 patch 6 (14.1.5.1698) and BW 7.0

I have some considerations after a lot of test done:

1) This problem is an environment's problem. I believe this problem is in the BO installation, is not in BW. Other consultant with a Virtual Machine with same BO did the same test connected with my BW and the problem didn't occurred.

2) If I don't select the box "Save language?", the AOLAP should take the language configured in BI Launch Pad preferences. This works ONLY if the language is EN, if the language still ES this problem still occurring.

3) Is necessary to use EN_en = English (United States), other EN languages like EN_uk = English (United Kingdom) doesn't works as well.

4) This problem occurs in my Productive and Develop environments.

I'm not so confident to install the SP6, because I installed the SP5 to try to solve but didn't solve.

So, experts, I'm considering to reinstall the environments, but this is the last option, because will create a lot of others bureaucratic problems. To do this, is necessary to be very confident that will solve the problem.

Thanks for every help!

Hey @ all,

after a Upgrade von BO 4.0 to  BO 4.1 we get an error for only one Analysis OLAP Workspace.

Analysis, Edition für OLAP, hat um 8:59 PM eine unerwartete Ausnahme festgestellt und musste geschlossen werden.

"

Analysis, edition for OLAP encountered an unexpected exception at 9:17 PM that has caused it to close.

The following reasons may have caused the unexpected exception:

•Analysis, edition for OLAP has timed out. Your workspace may have been automatically saved to your Favorites folder as an "autosave" file.

•A fatal exception has occurred. Log on again to Analysis, edition for OLAP.

If you repeatedly see this error, contact your administrator."

We only get this error for one OLAP Report. All other Analysis for OLAP reports are working fine.

In Logging we only get errors in the CMS Service:

Decimal Format : OLAP Analysis x HANA Calculation View

Hi Guys,

I have the follow landscape:

- BO 4.1 SP6 ( Olap Analysis )

- HANA SP09

I´m working with multi-language reports ( works fine ), but regarding decimal format, OLAP Analysis shows always decimal format with "." (point).

But it does not follow the user language settings, for example:

US: 50.10 (decimal = ".")

BR: 50,10 (decimal = ",")

I have tried change HANA user locale  but doesn't work, remains the same thing. On a side note, the setting works perfectly well under the HANA Studio displays and queries.

Does anyone know how fix it or a workaround so that OLAP Analysis follows the language settings?

Patterns in Selection Option Variables in Analysis for OLAP

Hello Experts,

My organization is in the process of moving from BEx Web Analyzer queries to Analysis for OLAP reports (we're on BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 2 Patch 3). We are using the pre-existing BEx queries as data providers which has worked well for the most part.

An issue we're running into involves variables of the Selection Option type. Many of our users have a vertical list of values for which they want to run a report. We have been teaching them to copy/paste values into Microsoft Word and use the Replace functionality to get them into a horizontal list separated by semicolons (100000001; 100000002; etc). Pasting these values into Analysis does not work the same as it did in BEx and I'm trying to find a similar workaround so we don't have to create a new variable and change over 50 pre-existing queries. Any ideas?

Michael

Scheduling a Report

Hi,

Is there any way to schedule an Analysis report?

There is a monthly need to have several Analysis reports created with varying dimension values. It would be great to be able to have these report automatically generated based on at least the changing time period. Please let me know if there is any way to do that.

Thanks,

Change default look-and-feel

Is it possible to change the look-and-feel of the Analysis for OLAP tool?

The default colours (blue) are a bit too close to our competitor's colours, so would be nice to be able to change those to something more closely aligned with our corporate colours.

Language Translation in AOLAP

Hi,

We have a requirement of performing language translation basd on the user's login id. Is it possible in AOLAP? I tried to change the Product Locale and Preferred Viewing Locale to non-english language. What i found was, only the tool related words were translated but the content of the report was not translated. We have source as BEX query and the Language pack is installed in BW/BEX side.

Please let me know the steps to be followed in order to acheive this.

Analysis for OLAP and BW restricted characteristics

$

Hi All,

Recently, when we were using Analysis for OLAP with BEx query OLAP connection then it was ignoring our input variables. It used the default values and displayed the result. However, we were able to fix it after a BW consultant (who was there luckily) suggested to move all restricted characteristics from default values to global area (Restricted Characteristics). Consultant also advised to remove restricted characteristics from default value after the move.

Now, what I really didn't understand that why did we do that? Is there an explanation for this that I can read? Shouldn't this slow down the query?

Your suggestions will be highly regarded.

Report to Report Interface in OLAP Analysis

We got a requirement where either a sub-query in webi needs to created but i think Webi 4.1 even doesn't support when it's based on top of Bex query? Right?

So in order to achieve this, i am planning to use OLAP Analysis feature where i have learnt that the RRI functionality of BEx is supported, but my worry ~~ i could not see that in OLAP analysis browser.

What i see is a Jump Link - which basically connects to another document of BOE like OpenDoc feature. So, could you please help me how to use RRI?

And do we have to mantain any Sender/Reciever settings in BW side to make this work?

Please help.

Thanks,

Compounded Object - How to remove it from report layout?

$

Hi All -

I would kindly like to ask your thought on this issue. We are running OLAP Analaysis 4.1; and we have the source of data of report is from SAP BW.

If you see from this report screen capture, in the Subsclass B, it has Compounded Value :# so it becomes #/#/999, do you know how to remove this compounded so that it only shows the values: 999?

2-17-2014 5-27-21 PM.jpg

Could you please share your thought how to do the configuration in OLAP 4.1?

NB: We cannot remove it from SAP BW, hence, I am looking the way how to remove it from OLAP Analysis 4.1.

Again thanks you very much, and appreciate much for your feedback.

Cheers,

A OLAP Data Source Connection

$

Hello. When developing a new workspace we have made available SAP BW OLAP data source connections that represent SAP BW queries versus a data source system. The reasoning for this methodology is to allow us to control which queries are available for users to execute versus having the open data source system where they can execute any query in A OLAP.

My question is this - it doesn't appear within ONE single workspace you can insert an OLAP data source connection more than once. So, for example we have a SAP BW Query assigned to OLAP Data Source A. We insert Data Source A for Tab 1 where we want particular values entered for our prompts. We then want to insert Tab 2 which would also be assigned to OLAP Data Source A which we want a different set of values entered for the prompts. The insertion of OLAP Data Source A a second time does not seem possible.

The MDAS service encountered an error.

Hi Experts,

I have a BEx Query. On this I have created an Analysis Work Space in BO. I have one system for both (Dev & QA) in BO.

The Analysis Work Space query is executing without error in BO Dev, but it is throwing below error for QA query:

The MDAS service encountered an error.

Failed to execute getRepresentation() because the query state [USER_NOT_AUTHORIZED] is invalid. : com.businessobjects.multidimensional.services.MdasRuntimeException: Failed to execute getRepresentation() because the query state [USER_NOT_AUTHORIZED] is invalid.

I have gone through so many SDN topics related to this. But couldn't get much info on this.

Note: The query doesn't have any calculation.

Please suggest.

SAP BI 4.0 Analysis OLAP and Managing authentication and security

$

Hi all,

I defined a OLAP connection for accessing a MS SQL 2008 cube. I'd like to manage also security issues, like the correct visibility of data for specific users.

For example, I have a sales data cube containing information of different countries. I define a OLAP connection for that cube and I create a Analysis view of that data.

want to manage data segregation (some users can only see data from Italy, other users can only see data from England, etc). I'm reading also some manuals and it seems I can't decide this kind of data segregation via SAP BO. Is it so? Do I have to manage these issues using MS SQL server authentication and security or there is a way to manage also with BO Security?

Thanks all for the support!
