Removing a field from a query corrupts reports (BICS connection)

Hello all,

We are currently running BO 4.0 SP5.3 (linux installation). We access data in a SAP BW environment via BICS interface. Most reports our users build are based on one master query that provides the most needed fields.

We new want to remove an old field from that query as it should no longer be used in reports. However, tests show that Analysis OLAP reports based on that query get corrupted once the field has been removed. Even reports that did not have the field in the report area or as filter get the error.

We can still work with the reports, but an error message keeps on showing each time you open a corrupted report. Even after saving the report with a new name the error messages stays. Putting the field back into the query fixes the error again.

The error message is:

The favorite filter cannot be deserialized because the hierarchy [{0}] does not exist. : com.businessobjects.multidimensional.services.MdasRuntimeException: The favorite filter cannot be deserialized because the hierarchy [{0}] does not exist.

We would at least expect that reports, which do not have the field in the report area, still work after the field has been removed from the query. Or we need a way to "hide" the field, so users will not see it anymore in Analysis.

I also created a ticket as SAP, but maybe someone in here has a faster solution for us.

Best regards,

Robert
