Hi,

I m using Analysis edition for OLAP. I use BEx query and prompt screen appears. There are Optional and Required prompts. When i tried to select single value for these propmts, it works fine. But when i select multiple value for a prompt (for eg. more than 1 company code) same company code appears multiple times in the prompt screen. Can someone advice me on this issue?

Note: The same BEx query works fine in WEBI report and BEx Analyser.

Thanks in advance....

How to run an Analysis for Olap report from company website and return results

All,
I need to pass parameters entered by a user from a company website to an Analysis for Olap report and have the results return to the webpage. I've been searching SCN but have not found anything that describes the best method for doing this.

We are using BEx queries with BICS connections.  We are currently upgrading BW to be 7.31 SP10.  We’re on BI 4.0 but will upgrade to 4.1 in August.

Thank you for your help,

SAP BW Queries behave different Bex analyzer vs Analysis for OLAP

Platform:

SAP BW 7.01 SP7

SAP BO BI 4.0 SP4

Hello,

I have a BEX query which contains a hierarchy. This Query when executed with Bex Analyzer for either Web or Excel takes seconds to be executed. But when executed using Analysis for OLAP it takes about two minutes. (strangely enough it is always about 2 minutes).

When I look into BW while the run is being executed(refreshed) at Analysis for OLAP, I can see the system is doing a sequential read on a customer text table and it can be seen it takes around 2 minutes.

My question is why Analysis triggers this and not Bex Analyzer?

Other queries run perfectly fine, except for this with the hierarchy

I'll appreciate your comments!

Hello All,

It is possible (I guess no) to create a jumplink to another Analysis for OLAP.

If not possible, is it a planned enhancement ?

Thanks for your help.

Our BO platform is BO 4.1 SP2 patch 4 (very recent version).

Do you know how to solve this issue ?

Thanks for your help.

Time to Migrate Bex Web to Olap for Analysis. Now what? How to manage content and what about about Portal Role Menus (PFCG) vs BI Launch Pad

$

At BI2013 conferennce today, Thierry Adus from SAP gave a really good presentation on Olap for Analysis SP05 and he may have me convinced that now is the time to begin planning on moving from Bex Web to Olap for Analysis with BI 4 SP05.

Especially once there is a replacement for Bex broadcaster, mentioned to be coming in late 2013, we are ready to start the process of migrating our Bex web reports to Olap for Analysis.

However I remain reluctant giving Olap for analysis to casual users that are finally are comfortable with bex web after 5 years.  And it is not prtactical or possible to replace all bex reports with webis.Thought I would post this topic to see if you might offer any experiences and suggestions for migrating Bex web reports to BI Olap for Analysis and how you manage the transition from Enterprise Portal Roles to BI Launch Pad.

(1) What was the best process to take Bex reports to Olap for Analysis?  We have several  hundreds....

Is it as simple as opening the Bex query in Analysis for Olap client?

(2) But...We also use the enterprise portal and publish to roles (PFCG) which we currently import to EP for menus for different business groups.  A query could be published to multiple roles. How do we manage this for bi launch pad?   Trying to retain similar portal role authorizations (list of reports) and avoid duplicating the documents in BI Launch Pad?  One thought is create a webi with a list of of olap for analysis as hyerplinks, but complaints are webi is too slow to open.  Guess could do same with design studio, but really miss the idea of Bex query designer publish to role, import role to portal as workset, add workset to portal role as delta link. Done, then each time we transport PFCG role change in BW ABAP, the portal role is updated automatically.

I fear managing contnent in bi launch pad is a great deal of maintenannce.  So - question how do we manage the content?  I am not comfortable just giving casual users olap for analysis and have them open and search for the report.  They just wont do it.

(3) I learned that the mobile client for Analysis is Design Studio and in May release  will have function to save an anlysis view as a Design studio application, which can run on IOS as of BI Mobile 4.4. and BI 4 SP05.  I guess it is a manual effort to open every Bex report in olap for analysis, save as design app, then open in designer and verify/adjust,  publish as design html5 doc, assign folder categories and mobile category?  Expect to invest some time here...

I realize another long bloggish discussion, but geeked out on the great presentation by Thierry today!

Appreciate your thoughts and experiences.  I will share as I work through it and find out more.

How to make statistics on Analysis runtime ?

$

Hello Experts,

I need to make statistics on Analysis for Olap execution but I only have the "view" figures in the audit universe (+1 each time the report is opened).

For WEBI, I have the views and the refresh figures (refresh corresponding to the execution time).

I also tried in SAP BW Statistics because we are using SAP BO on top of SAP BW. But I am surprised to see that the query runtime corresponding to analysis execution is not in the statistics as well. (for WEBI, we have the bex query runtime...).

Do you know any way (or settings) that will allow me to have the statistics on Analysis runtime ?

Thanks for your help.

Analysis for Office / OLAP and universes

Hi

I have a question: I read that Analysis cannot use universes as datasource.

We have SAP BW and another non-SAP DWH, both dataprovider should be combined into a BO report. How can we use both dataprovider in Analysis for Office/OLAP if we cannot use a universe?

Thank you.

The MDAS service encountered an error.

Hi,

I want to use an OLAP-Connection in BI Launch Pad. It's a MSAS 2008 connection to a cube. The following error is shown when selecting the OLAP-Connection in Analysis for OLAP:

The MDAS service encountered an error.

Details: Failed to get representation: RuntimeException occurred :

java.lang.IllegalStateException: ResultSet is null, refreshData has not been called

If I connect from MS Excel via Data->Analysis Services the correct data is shown, without errors.

Can somebody help? Thanks in advance.

Compounded Object - How to remove it from report layout?

$

Hi All -

I would kindly like to ask your thought on this issue. We are running OLAP Analaysis 4.1; and we have the source of data of report is from SAP BW.

If you see from this report screen capture, in the Subsclass B, it has Compounded Value :# so it becomes #/#/999, do you know how to remove this compounded so that it only shows the values: 999?

2-17-2014 5-27-21 PM.jpg

Could you please share your thought how to do the configuration in OLAP 4.1?

NB: We cannot remove it from SAP BW, hence, I am looking the way how to remove it from OLAP Analysis 4.1.

Again thanks you very much, and appreciate much for your feedback.

Cheers,

Exporting to Excel attribute key and text values into separate columns from Analysis for OLAP

$

Hello,

Our users are attempting to export attribute key and text values into separate columns when exporting an Analysis Workspace into Excel.  Currently the key and text are being concatenated into a single Excel column.

For example, in an Analysis Workspace we display the Cost Center key and text and the Business Area (key and text) attribute of Cost Center.  The export to Excel looks like this:

0COSTCENTERCost CenterBusiness AreaAmount
CC-1Cost Center 1BA1 : Business Area 1$100.00
CC-2Cost Center 2BA1 : Business Area 1$100.00

How can we separate the Business Area key and text automatically?

Thanks!

Kathy

Time-dependent BW hierarchies in Analysis for OLAP

$

Hi all,

We are using time-dependent hierarchies in combination with a key date variable.

Tools used: Query designer based on SAP BW 7.4 and BO 4.0.

The following steps are executed:

  1. Report is executed and key date is prompted
  2. According to the key date, the correct time-dependent organisation hierarchy will be used in drill-down
  3. Bring up variable screen again and select different key date
  4. The drill-down changes according to the now correct time-dependent organisation hierarchy

The above scenario works for BEx Analyzer, BEx Web, Analysis for Office - but not for Analysis for OLAP.

Whenever I run through this scenario and confirm the updated key date, the following error is displayed:

cube.get.dimension.info.runtime.error : java.lang.IllegalStateException: There is no default hierarchy for dimension [ORG].

In the user guide I don't find any specifics about the hierarchies and since it works in all the other applications, I wonder where the error is coming from. I also could not find it anywhere else in the forum.

Has anyone experienced the same error or any suggestions?

Dimensions Order in Data panel not same as in HANA Calc View

$

Hi,

We've created an OLAP Analysis report based on a Calculated HANA view.

Our problem is, the order in which the list of Dimensions that get displayed in Data panel on the left side of report is not in the same order as in Calc Hana view.

For e.g. in the attached image, Dimension Order is,

1. Dimension 2

2. Dimension 1

3. Dimension 4

4. Dimension 3

But the actual order in HANA view is,

1. Dimension 1

2. Dimension 2

3. Dimension 3

4. Dimension 4

Could you please let us know if it is expected in OLAP Analysis to show the order differently than that of Hana view. Is there a way we can re-arrange the Dimension order in Data panel.

Thanks in Advance!

Thanks and Regards,

Ram

Analysis for OLAP 4.1

Hello,

I created some reports using Analysis for OLAP in BOBJ 4.1, and I had a few question.

1) I was not able to display repeated values for Char in the report output (but was able to get them when I download to excel), can we get them by default in the report output I.e. when we execute the report on the web / BI Launch pad.

2) Display result rows doesn't work as if work in Portal or BIO, if  we try to display the result row for a particular filed say "A", it by default displays the result for all the fields that are there after "A", i.e. B,C etc.

3) Also when we drag drop an filed in the report it doesn't adjust the filed size as it does in portal, the user have to manually adjust it after he places the filed in the report.

Do we know if there is a fix fro this problem or if SAP is planning something for it in the future?

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,

Mahesh

Hey @ all,

after a Upgrade von BO 4.0 to  BO 4.1 we get an error for only one Analysis OLAP Workspace.

Analysis, Edition für OLAP, hat um 8:59 PM eine unerwartete Ausnahme festgestellt und musste geschlossen werden.

"

Analysis, edition for OLAP encountered an unexpected exception at 9:17 PM that has caused it to close.

The following reasons may have caused the unexpected exception:

•Analysis, edition for OLAP has timed out. Your workspace may have been automatically saved to your Favorites folder as an "autosave" file.

•A fatal exception has occurred. Log on again to Analysis, edition for OLAP.

If you repeatedly see this error, contact your administrator."

We only get this error for one OLAP Report. All other Analysis for OLAP reports are working fine.

In Logging we only get errors in the CMS Service:

Analysis for OLAP - How to modify Currency and Scaling factor display

$
0
0

We are using BO 4.0 on top of SAP BEx queries. When displaying data in Analysis fo OLAP, we get the Currency and Scaling information shown behind the figures. However, the scaling is in front of the currency sign (M EUR) for positive figures and behind it (EURM) for negative, which is leading to a cluttered view (wrong display highlighted in red):

AccountQuarter 1Quarter 2Quarter 3Quarter 4
Operating profit1877,72M EUR-3902,75 EURM3695,57M EUR-2301,18 EURM

  1. Where can the value display setting be changed? The display should be always just M EUR.
  2. The client does not want to see currency and scaling factor at all. Is there a way to hide this and display only the scaled value without M or EUR?

Thanks and regards.

Is there a future for Analysis Edition for OLAP

$

Hello Experts,

My current client hesitates to use Analysis Edition for OLAP, even if it seems to be the best solution to migrate the Bex Web report to BO with the same functionalities.

Is anybody having recent information from SAP regarding the position of Analysis in the roadmap. Is it still enhancements in the pipe ?

Can we bet on this tool ? :-)

I know many clients use Analysis but I would like to make sure before telling my current one to use it.

Best regards,

Bertrand
