Incorrect sort for Year/Period

$

Hi,

In my OLAP report I am trying to sort year period field but it is giving wrong output.

Please check below snaps to understand it more.

Error Snap.JPG

I had made Year/Period filed Display as key and am trying to sort it in ascending order but unable to sort it. But at backend in BEx I am able to sort it in correct way.

I’m not sure we can create a variable, in OLAP, to strip some characters and get aresult with only MM.YYYY(001.2013).

How to merge 2 queries in BO Analysis for OLAP

Hi,

We have 2 Bex queries, as datasource for 2 BO analysis for Olap reports, and we would like merge them using a common dimension (material).

We are trying to use (in OLAP analysis) a dimension merge tool as we can find in the BO webI.

In other words, do you know if we can merge 2 queries in the BO Analysois for OLAP?

If yes, could you please explain that ?

Version: 4.1.SP4. Patch 4.

Thx in advance.

Number of Cells Limit? - The MDAS service encountered an error.

Hi,

I have been pretty impressed with how well Analysis has been able to browse and display large cubes. However, I did encounter a MDAS service error when browsing a large cube, in which, I believe has more than 500,000 cells (see screenshot below). Is there a limit on the number of cells that Analysis will browse? In the example below, Analysis was able to browse 447,723 cells before it encountered the following error:

  • Runtime error occured : java.lang.IllegalStateException: ResultSet is null, refreshData has not been called

Thank you for your help in advance,

Hi everyone,

We have just upgraded to SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 2 and are in test mode in our development client. Lots of nice new features which is great.

I am scratching my head looking for a way to copy and paste variable values into Olap Analysis and can't see any option for it. Is it staring me in the face?

Many thanks

Functionality question regarding Analysis edition for OLAP

Best all,

I am looking at the functionality of Analyis for OLAP and have the following questions:

1.     Is it possible with Analysis for OLAP to display baselines (x and/or y axis) within graphs (esp. in scatter diagrams)?

2.     Is it possible with Analysis for OLAP to combine two type of graphic types e.g. line display (1 serie) in combination with

        Column display?

3.     Is there a functionality within Analysis for OLAP like a report-report interface between reports made both in Analysis for

OLAP  (Is it e.g.  possible to link multiple graphs & details. So the selection of a DOT in a scatterplot give details or when you

        click another graph/report)?

4.    Display filter values within your report

Thank you for your time and help in advance!

Best Regards,

René

Using pre-defined SSAS drillthrough action in BO Analysis Edition for OLAP

Hi,

I have and SSAS cube with a drillthrough action defined. In MS Excel, I can create a "summary report" as below.

YearCountrySales
2014USA200,000.00
2014China100,000.00

For my drillthrough action, on Sales, I can right click on one cell and choose Additional Action > Drillthrough Action (the pre-defined action in SSAS), and a new sheet will appear with a report that will show the "details" related to that cell.

YearMonthCountryCustomerSales
2014JanuaryUSA123-ABC500.00
2014FebruaryUSA123-ABC500.00
2014FebruaryUSA456-DEF10,000.00
2014MarchUSA789-GHI15,000.00
2014............
Grand Total200,000.00

Is it possible to expose this SSAS "action" in BOE?

Time-dependent BW hierarchies in Analysis for OLAP

$

Hi all,

We are using time-dependent hierarchies in combination with a key date variable.

Tools used: Query designer based on SAP BW 7.4 and BO 4.0.

The following steps are executed:

  1. Report is executed and key date is prompted
  2. According to the key date, the correct time-dependent organisation hierarchy will be used in drill-down
  3. Bring up variable screen again and select different key date
  4. The drill-down changes according to the now correct time-dependent organisation hierarchy

The above scenario works for BEx Analyzer, BEx Web, Analysis for Office - but not for Analysis for OLAP.

Whenever I run through this scenario and confirm the updated key date, the following error is displayed:

cube.get.dimension.info.runtime.error : java.lang.IllegalStateException: There is no default hierarchy for dimension [ORG].

In the user guide I don't find any specifics about the hierarchies and since it works in all the other applications, I wonder where the error is coming from. I also could not find it anywhere else in the forum.

Has anyone experienced the same error or any suggestions?

Extremely slow Excel Export after 4.1 SP4 Patch 2

Hello,

We've recently upgraded from BI 4.1 SP01 Patch 5 to BI 4.1 SP04 Patch 2.

When exporting larger datasets from AOLAP based on a sap bw 7.4 Patch 8 bex query, resulting in greater than 250K cells in XLSX, performance is very poor.

Before the upgrade, we could export 1m cells in under 40 seconds.  Now the same query's are taking over 8-10 minutes to export.  The query itself runs between 1-2 minutes.  And response is fairly quick to navigate pages/scroll.

In transaction sm50, we can see that there is communication between BI and BW during the entire process of export.  It appears to not be using cache and is rerunning the entire query.

We see the following programs being utilized by BW during the export process

CL_RSDM_READ_MASTER_DATA

CL_RSMD_RS_READ_MDATA

SAPMSSY1

SAPLSM02

SAPLRSBOLAP_BICS_PROVIDER

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue?

Hello. Is there a way to refresh the entire workspace when opening? Currently the active sheet is refreshed. To refresh the remaining sheets within the workspace you must click on them, respectively. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Skip Variable screen

$

Hello, I have searched SCN and AOLAP documentation before posting the below question. Is there an option to bypass the variable screen in Analysis for OLAP? What I mean is in my workspace, for 3 tabs I have say 3 queries. Each query is connected from BI by BICS, All the 3 queries has variable screen but with default values populated. When I run my AOLAP I don't want the variable screen to pop up for the query and also when I move across tabs.(just use default values) In BI we have an option to bypass by variable_screen = X. I am not interested in URL based because the default values of my variables are dynamic. Note: I have already merged variable and saved the prompts in initial variable screen Regards, B

How can I switch to a different cube without losing the existing workspace?

Hi,

Version: BI 4.1 SP6

Database: MS SQL Server 2012

How can I switch to a different cube without losing the existing workspace?

For example, I have two identical cubes (the BAR3 cube was copied to create the BAR3-TEST cube). The workspace was originally built with the BAR3 cube. I would now like the workspace to use the BAR3-TEST cube. However, after I add the BAR3-TEST cube and attempt to remove the BAR3 cube, I get the following message (see screenshot below). If I click [Yes], the BAR3 cube is removed and so is the workspace. I simply want the existing workspace to stay intact, but now use the BAR3-TEST cube. How can this be accomplished?

Analysis for OLAP Results Row Export to Excel

Hello all,

I have a question regarding Analysis for OLAP Results Row upon exporting to Excel. In OLAP once you enable the Results Row you have the row highlighted in yellow but once you export to Excel it defaults back to grey/white. Is there a way to retain the color format much like for BEx Web when exporting to Excel or is that how the system behaves?

Thank you in advance!

Error when bringing BEx Hierarchy into OLAP Analysis

$

Hi everyone,

I am using SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 2 and Using IE 9.

I have a number of different hierarchy's on a variety of characteristics in Bex. When I drag / drop any of these into an OLAP Analysis Workspace I get this error

Hierarchy error.png

If you drag the hierarchy in again it generally works but OLAP Analysis behavior goes a bit skewy after that.

The hierarchies work perfectly in BO Analysis for MS Office & BEx.

I get a similar message in Chrome so I don't beleive its browser related.

Any suggestions welcome!

With thanks

Gill
