I'm not sure if it's correct category, but i will try.
One of our partners use Business Objects for internal analysis and reporting. They decided to create extranet site where BO will be one of many sources of data.
We think about using SAP Business Objects SDK (Rest API) for retrieving data to extranet site. The question is: do we need any special license for this scenario? All queries will be executed under one account.
Could someone help me, or direct me, where i can find answer?
Thanks in advance

HI,
I want to make a table in HANA available in BO Analysis for OLAP. I have created a Connection with New JDBC connection in the IDT (information design tool) and published the original relational & the secured connection created to the the BO server. (The connection test in IDT was a success).
If I check the connection in CMC, I am able to see the connections. But when I login to launchpad and open up Analysis for OLAP, none of the HANA connections are visible. (I am logging in with Admin/Full access).
Is there any additional publish activity to be done or is this a limitation of OLAP Analysi?
Thanks & Regards,

Hi all,
I have some trouble with analysis for OLAP it starts but the page remains empty with an error: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404
The BOE server is BI4 SP5, the SAP BW server version is 7.0 EHP1.
Connecting to BI4 with SSO against BW server works.
Creating BICS connection against BW server works.
Creating OLAP connection against BW server works.
Directly logged on the BOE server, I get this erreur when I start Analysis for OLAP from the BI launchpad webpage:

Hey @ all,
after a Upgrade von BO 4.0 to BO 4.1 we get an error for only one Analysis OLAP Workspace.
Analysis, Edition für OLAP, hat um 8:59 PM eine unerwartete Ausnahme festgestellt und musste geschlossen werden.
"
Analysis, edition for OLAP encountered an unexpected exception at 9:17 PM that has caused it to close.
The following reasons may have caused the unexpected exception:
•Analysis, edition for OLAP has timed out. Your workspace may have been automatically saved to your Favorites folder as an "autosave" file.
•A fatal exception has occurred. Log on again to Analysis, edition for OLAP.
If you repeatedly see this error, contact your administrator."
We only get this error for one OLAP Report. All other Analysis for OLAP reports are working fine.
In Logging we only get errors in the CMS Service:

Hi all,
I defined a OLAP connection for accessing a MS SQL 2008 cube. I'd like to manage also security issues, like the correct visibility of data for specific users.
For example, I have a sales data cube containing information of different countries. I define a OLAP connection for that cube and I create a Analysis view of that data.
want to manage data segregation (some users can only see data from Italy, other users can only see data from England, etc). I'm reading also some manuals and it seems I can't decide this kind of data segregation via SAP BO. Is it so? Do I have to manage these issues using MS SQL server authentication and security or there is a way to manage also with BO Security?
Thanks all for the support!
Hi,
I have a doubt that is it possible for direct connect to Physical Essbase models and /or Logical Partition Models with A OLAP?
Can someone comment on whether the filtering functionality of Analysis Edition for OLAP 4.1 SP2 is working correctly? When filtering on a BW infoobject that has a default display setting of text, the user can not search the filter values by the key value. They can display the key, but the option to search on it is grayed out. This is not the functionality in BEx Web or Analysis office edition.
The filtering option functionality isn't intuitive. I need to remember to uncheck "Select everything" when filtering. Seems like it should be unchecked by default.
Also after I have narrowed down filter values via a search, there should be a box to "select everything" vs. having to check off each box one by one.
Thanks,
John
Hello,
Our users are attempting to export attribute key and text values into separate columns when exporting an Analysis Workspace into Excel. Currently the key and text are being concatenated into a single Excel column.
For example, in an Analysis Workspace we display the Cost Center key and text and the Business Area (key and text) attribute of Cost Center. The export to Excel looks like this:
0COSTCENTER | Cost Center | Business Area | Amount |
---|---|---|---|
CC-1 | Cost Center 1 | BA1 : Business Area 1 | $100.00 |
CC-2 | Cost Center 2 | BA1 : Business Area 1 | $100.00 |
How can we separate the Business Area key and text automatically?
Thanks!
Kathy
Hello,
I was under the impression the "Go To" functionality would start working from BI 4.1.
The option appears when i use a BEx query that currently has a jump build in but I get 2 different error messages.
But when I click on it I get different errors.
This one gives a very unhelpful error message ;-)
2. With Query target report: P_QYWFFI0140_MIFSSR006_001 link to P_QYWFFI0140_MIFSSR006_003
Error message gives a clue but surely it is not expecting a BICS connection? I am using a system BW connection so it has access to the BW query and the Go To sees the report as it offers it as an option.
Thanks a lot
Nicolas

Hi Everyone,
Sorry if I am posting this in a wrong section
Actually I have one question regarding BO Voyager reports used created using OLAP cubes
I have one dimension / member selector in the report. In that member selector suppose there are some columns / dimension attributes / members are like Region, Project, Project State are there
Now in member region suppose there are 5-6 region like Asia, Europe, Africa etc
My requirement is I want to show the values to the user based on their region and they will not be able to see or select any other region other than his/her region
As part of its partial wok done I have already created folder against each region but in voyager report since there is o restriction they can view other region data which is a security issue
Can you help me on this asap
Thanks in advance
Hi All,
Analysis for OLAP is not working for SSO. I am using below versions of software's.
BO ANALYSIS 1.4
BOBJ 4.0 SPS 4 PATCH 5
SAP NETWEAVER 7.01 SP 8
BW 7.01 SPS 5
I have created BICS OLAP connection from BOBJ CMC. When I try to create report from SAP Netweaver it is showing below message, but this same connection is working with Analysis Office, in which it is prompted the log in screen for BW.
Is it the expected behavior? or I missed any configurations? It will be helpful if anyone can share your thoughts on this issue.
Thanks in Advance,
-Rakesh
I'm using Analysis OLAP with a BEx Query that has a mandatory date variable. It will only let me pick certain dates for this variable. Since I'm in the US, I read dates, MM-DD-YYYY. Apparently, Analysis OLAP does YYYYMMDD regardless of the back end formatting in BI 4.0 SP 4. I can pick dates up to the 12th of the month, since A-OLAP thinks that is month 12. I don't have this issue with the exact same query using Analysis Office, WebI, or BEx (via RSRT).
Date 08/22/2013 doesn't work...
Date 08/10/2013 works...
I checked the SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for OLAP User Guide (for BI 4.0 SP5). On page 126, it states...
"When you connect to an SAP BW data source, the format for displaying dates in the analysis window is
determined by a setting on the SAP BW server for the user profile that you used to connect to the data source."
Also, it notes, "Analysis requires that all prompt values in the Prompts dialog box be entered in the format
yyyymmdd. Dates in the Prompts dialog box are always displayed in this format, and you must follow this
format when manually typing values for date prompts."
Fair enough, I can enter the date in a different format...however, there's more. If you are on BI 4.0 SP 4 Patch 0, the user account users for the OLAP connection on the BW backend must be set to...YYYY-MM-DD in SU01. Given, that I'm in the US, the isn't a productive scenario.
Here are a few relevant SAP notes...
1761780 - Cannot enter a date value in USA format [mm/dd/yyyy] when SSO authentication is used in an Analysis edition for OLAP workspace against an SAP BW source
This note mentions ADAPT01662017 which is part of SP 05.
1832395 - Changes in the user specific date format in SAP BW are not getting reflected in existing Analysis edition for OLAP workspace prompts.
1879223 - In Analysis Edition for OLAP format for date prompt is yyyyMMdd when selecting from calendar
ADAPT01662017 (Available in BI 4.0 SP 5 - see release notes)
Description
In Analysis, edition for OLAP, when you connect to an SAP BW data source with a date prompt that has a
default value, the date format for the SAP BW server is applied to the default prompt value. However,
Analysis only accepts date prompts that have the format yyyymmdd.
If the date format for the SAP BW server does not match the yyyymmdd format, you will not be able to specify
valid dates for date prompts with default values.
New Behavior
This problem is resolved. The “Prompts” dialog box formats default values for date prompts as
yyyymmdd regardless of the date format setting for the SAP BW server.
The date format that you specified for the SAP BW server still applies to dates in the analysis window.
See the fixed issue note for ADAPT01637226 for more information.
So, I would LOVE to upgrade to SP 5, but I cant in the next few days to solve this issue. Anyone have a suggestion as to how to deal with this in Analysis OLAP and stay on BI 4.0 SP 4?
Thanks for taking a look!

Hi
I have a question: I read that Analysis cannot use universes as datasource.
We have SAP BW and another non-SAP DWH, both dataprovider should be combined into a BO report. How can we use both dataprovider in Analysis for Office/OLAP if we cannot use a universe?
Thank you.

Hello all,
I had to modify a formula in a Bex query to have it calculate the results of formula by summation.
I checked the query using Business Objects Analyzer and it summed correctly. If I create a new analysis for olap report, it sums correctly. If I modify an existing report, it does not pick up the change. Existing Analysis for Excel reports also do not pick up the new summary.
Using the CMC, I edited the connection and reselected the Bex query, but that did not work either.
Here is it working in the query:
Line Discount is a formula with logic checking to see if "product list price total amount" is 0, set the line discount to 0; otherwise calculate it as "product list price total amount" - Net Sale. So the total needs to sum of the line discounts (0+2820+2820 = 5640) and not be the Overall result "product list price total amount" - Overall Result "net sale" (13960-96720= -82760).
Here it is in Webi - working:
Here is what is happening in an existing Analysis for OLAP report - not working:
I also tried to unselect Line Discount as a key figure from the existing report and reselect it, but that did not work either. I'd like to find a solution so that all the reports that use this query won't have to be rewritten.
I'm on BW 7.0 EP 1 SP 10 and BI 4.0 SP7 Patch 5.
Thank you for your help,
Susan

I have AA for OLAP based on BEx. There are YTD calculation in BEx Designer: User enters Period in variable, and in user exits, the Period Range is populated as "1 ~ UserEnteredValue" in second variable. In BEx, YTD is calculated based on the Restrictive KF for the period range, calculated in User Exit. This is working fine in BEx Analyzer, however in Advance Analysis (for OLAP OR in Ofice), the YTD value is not coming up they way it is in BEx Analyzer...
Anybody has any clue, why??
Thanking all of you in advance
