All of the reporting we are currently converting from Bex to Analysis for OLAP are being saved with "save prompt values" unchecked.
We were planning to train users to select the checkbox/send a report via BI Inbox if they wish to send others a report with particular variable selections.
This does not work unless the user makes some other change outside the prompt screen (even something as simple as changing totals display).
Going to the share menu and creating an OpenDocument link, I have noticed that the generated link returns the CUID of the original report if changes outside the prompt screen are not made, while if they are made, a new CUID is generated. This seems to indicate that BOBJ is not registering prompt entries (when "save prompts" is selected) by themselves as "changes".
Does anyone have any suggestions that would allow users to select the "save prompt values" checkbox, enter their own prompts, and send to other users so that prompt entries are retained without having to make any other changes to the report?
We are on BOBJ 4.1 SP 2 Patch 3.

Our SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for OLAP application demonstrates very poor performance when used with SAP BW BEx query on HANA.
We are using SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.1 SP04 Analysis for OLAP application against SAP BW (7.3 SP11) BEx query on HANA (1.07). When we open an Analysis for OLAP Workspace in BI Launch Pad, fill in the BEx prompt values and execute it the first results are returned in a couple of minutes. The same BEx query when used directly returns the results in a matter of 10-15 seconds. Also I have done some comparable tests - I have created an Analysis App from this Analysis for OLAP Workspace, then opened this Analysis App in SAP Design Studio and saved it backed into BI Launch Pad. This SAP Design Studio Analysis App (converted from Analysis for OLAP Workspace) also has opened and retrieved the data in BI Launch Pad in a matter of 30 seconds (mainly because after conversion from Analysis for OLAP into Analysis App it contains 7 same data sources pointing to the same BEx query).
After searching the SAP Support Portal I have found several similar cases about problems with performance of Analysis for OLAP (0001733169, 0001762752, 0001934711, 0001955647) but unfortunately none of those Notes can be applied in our case.

Does OLAP 4.1 supports multiple hierarchies for a single dimension created in Essbase cubes?

We are using Analysis edition for OLAP for Bex query as source and the tool doesn't sort the Fiscal Month as desired. When the query runs for the first time the data comes as in the order how it is shown in Bex query result. But as soon as the user drags OUT the Fiscal Month field for their analysis purpose and adds it back it NO longer maintains the Sort order for Fiscal Month. Is there a work around or a fix in any of the patches/releases?
We are on BO4.1 SP2 P6, Source: Bex Query (BW7.3 on HANA)
First run with screenshot showing correct sort order and incorrect sort order after remove/add back fiscal month.
Any pointers highly appreciated.

In A-OLAP we have some queries with many keyfigures.
The default view shows the keyfigure folder in expanded format.
Can you please tell me if there is a setting where we can collapse the Keyfigure folder by default, the user can open/expand if needed.

More and more often our users have this pop up when they work hardly with BO (Analysis for Olap 4.1 SP Patch 5) and IE 11.0.9600.17691 :
In English, this means "Are you sure to quit this page?"
They specially have this message when the customize the layout and then come back to the prompt window.
But this message looks like random.
Do you have any idea to solve this annoying problem ?

i have created an analysis report for a Bex Query in which i am using fiscal year as range variable.so here i am getting below issue.
1- when i am refreshing Analysis report- Fiscal year variable is showing from values correct but the to values it is showing the only the value which i have selected in From.
2- when i am refreshing it second time i am getting only the previously selected values only.
this variable screen should behave excatly as the bex report report variable screen behaves.Please help me to resolve the issue.

There is a monthly need to have several Analysis reports created with varying dimension values. It would be great to be able to have these report automatically generated based on at least the changing time period. Please let me know if there is any way to do that.

We've recently upgraded from BI 4.1 SP01 Patch 5 to BI 4.1 SP04 Patch 2.
When exporting larger datasets from AOLAP based on a sap bw 7.4 Patch 8 bex query, resulting in greater than 250K cells in XLSX, performance is very poor.
Before the upgrade, we could export 1m cells in under 40 seconds. Now the same query's are taking over 8-10 minutes to export. The query itself runs between 1-2 minutes. And response is fairly quick to navigate pages/scroll.
In transaction sm50, we can see that there is communication between BI and BW during the entire process of export. It appears to not be using cache and is rerunning the entire query.
We see the following programs being utilized by BW during the export process

At BI2013 conferennce today, Thierry Adus from SAP gave a really good presentation on Olap for Analysis SP05 and he may have me convinced that now is the time to begin planning on moving from Bex Web to Olap for Analysis with BI 4 SP05.
Especially once there is a replacement for Bex broadcaster, mentioned to be coming in late 2013, we are ready to start the process of migrating our Bex web reports to Olap for Analysis.
However I remain reluctant giving Olap for analysis to casual users that are finally are comfortable with bex web after 5 years. And it is not prtactical or possible to replace all bex reports with webis.Thought I would post this topic to see if you might offer any experiences and suggestions for migrating Bex web reports to BI Olap for Analysis and how you manage the transition from Enterprise Portal Roles to BI Launch Pad.
(1) What was the best process to take Bex reports to Olap for Analysis? We have several hundreds....
Is it as simple as opening the Bex query in Analysis for Olap client?
(2) But...We also use the enterprise portal and publish to roles (PFCG) which we currently import to EP for menus for different business groups. A query could be published to multiple roles. How do we manage this for bi launch pad? Trying to retain similar portal role authorizations (list of reports) and avoid duplicating the documents in BI Launch Pad? One thought is create a webi with a list of of olap for analysis as hyerplinks, but complaints are webi is too slow to open. Guess could do same with design studio, but really miss the idea of Bex query designer publish to role, import role to portal as workset, add workset to portal role as delta link. Done, then each time we transport PFCG role change in BW ABAP, the portal role is updated automatically.
I fear managing contnent in bi launch pad is a great deal of maintenannce. So - question how do we manage the content? I am not comfortable just giving casual users olap for analysis and have them open and search for the report. They just wont do it.
(3) I learned that the mobile client for Analysis is Design Studio and in May release will have function to save an anlysis view as a Design studio application, which can run on IOS as of BI Mobile 4.4. and BI 4 SP05. I guess it is a manual effort to open every Bex report in olap for analysis, save as design app, then open in designer and verify/adjust, publish as design html5 doc, assign folder categories and mobile category? Expect to invest some time here...
I realize another long bloggish discussion, but geeked out on the great presentation by Thierry today!
Appreciate your thoughts and experiences. I will share as I work through it and find out more.

After running a report, the current folder's contents disappear. This problem does not occur with IE10, only with IE11 (see screenshots below):
When first viewing the contents of the folder "PAS Online Reports", the contents are displayed:
When trying to run the Analysis report "Activity by Org", I receive this error:
After selecting "Tools > Enterprise Mode", and re-running the report, the report successfully runs:
However, after exiting the report's tab, the contents of the folder "PAS Online Reports" is now empty:

Hi,i hav created Bex Query and a analysis report on top of it.I did some change in the bex query i.e., i removed one condition from the beX query and its not getting reflected in the report.I get the same results as before.wat can i do to rectify this?

I have been pretty impressed with how well Analysis has been able to browse and display large cubes. However, I did encounter a MDAS service error when browsing a large cube, in which, I believe has more than 500,000 cells (see screenshot below). Is there a limit on the number of cells that Analysis will browse? In the example below, Analysis was able to browse 447,723 cells before it encountered the following error:

Getting a error when re-saving a workspace. This happens when I change the properties "Analysis Name" from Analysis 1 to any name and click save.
If you don't change the name, it works fine.

We are using BO 4.0 Analysis Edition OLAP for reporting and there was a requirement from the business users that they need the jump queries option as they had in the BEx Analyzer.
When I created Analysis OLAP report, it gave me the option of Jump Link in the report, but when I try to link another report, it shows me only the folders but no reports to link. Is this a problem with Analysis Edition OLAP ? Is there anything I am missing ?
I also checked Analysis Edition Office, tried creating a report but the jump query (report - report link) option is not available.
SAP has published in their document that the jump feature is not available in Analysis Office:

but I don't see any document for Analysis OLAP. Is the jump query possible in BO 4.0 Analysis OLAP ?

We have SAP BW and another non-SAP DWH, both dataprovider should be combined into a BO report. How can we use both dataprovider in Analysis for Office/OLAP if we cannot use a universe?

I'm using SAP BO Analysis OLAP Edition on a MSAS cube. When I drill on some dimensions I receive the following message:
THE REQUEST OPERATION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED BECAUSE THE QUERY IS TOO LARGE
Anybody faced this problem? I'd like to know the limits of SAP BO Analysis tool (if exists) and some ways to solve this issues. On these dimensions it seems also impossible to set filters (system is very slow and doesn't arrive to show the list of values).

We are using time-dependent hierarchies in combination with a key date variable.
Tools used: Query designer based on SAP BW 7.4 and BO 4.0.
The following steps are executed:
The above scenario works for BEx Analyzer, BEx Web, Analysis for Office - but not for Analysis for OLAP.
Whenever I run through this scenario and confirm the updated key date, the following error is displayed:
cube.get.dimension.info.runtime.error : java.lang.IllegalStateException: There is no default hierarchy for dimension [ORG].
In the user guide I don't find any specifics about the hierarchies and since it works in all the other applications, I wonder where the error is coming from. I also could not find it anywhere else in the forum.
Has anyone experienced the same error or any suggestions?
